Physical and chemical properties:

tungsten is a rare high melting point metal, which can improve the high-temperature hardness of steel. Tungsten is a silvery white metal, which looks like steel. Tungsten has high melting point, low vapor pressure and low evaporation rate. The chemical properties of tungsten are very stable. It does not react with air and water at room temperature. When it is not heated, any concentration of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid and aqua regia do not work on tungsten. When the temperature rises to 80 ° - 100 ° C, among the above acids, except hydrofluoric acid, other acids have a weak effect on tungsten. At room temperature, tungsten can be rapidly dissolved in the mixed acid of hydrofluoric acid and concentrated nitric acid, but it does not work in alkali solution. In the presence of air, molten alkali can oxidize tungsten into tungstate. In the presence of oxidants (NaNO3, NaNO2, KClO3, PbO2), the reaction to form tungstate is more violent. It can combine with oxygen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, carbon, nitrogen and sulfur at high temperature, but not with hydrogenation

Use:

basic use: about 50% of the tungsten ores mined in the world are used for smelting high-quality steel, about 35% for producing hard steel, about 10% for making tungsten wire and about 5% for other purposes. Tungsten can be used to manufacture guns, nozzles of rocket propellers, armor piercing bullets, metal cutting blades, drill bits, superhard molds, wire drawing molds, etc. tungsten is widely used in mining, metallurgy, machinery, construction, transportation, electronics, chemical industry, light industry, textile, military industry, aerospace, science and technology and various industrial fields.
