Samarium (Sm) General Information：

Samarium, chemical symbol is Sm, atomic number is 62. Samarium is a medium-hard, silver-white metal that oxidizes easily in air. The melting point is 1345K (1072°C) and the boiling point is 2064K (1791°C). As a typical lanthanide element, the oxidation state of samarium is usually +3. Compounds of samarium(II), the most common are SmO, SmS, SmSe and SmTe. Avoid contact with acids, oxides, and moisture. Soluble in acid, insoluble in water. Easy to combine with non-metallic elements. Fine powder can ignite spontaneously. Exists in nature in the form of trivalent samarium salts. It can be used as neutron absorber, optoelectronic equipment and alloy manufacturing.
