Physical and chemical properties
Form: white tetragonal crystal
Density: 6.95g/cm³
Melting point: 1630 degrees Celsius.
Properties: Insoluble in water, alcohol, dilute acid and lye, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, co-dissolving with alkali to form stannate.
Preparation method: It can be obtained by burning tin in the air or by heating and decomposing Sn(OH)₄ (the natural product is cassiterite).
Others: also known as tin oxide, white or yellow (yellow generally contains Cl-), tetragonal, hexagonal or orthorhombic crystal, sublimation at 1800 ~ 1900 ℃. Insoluble in water, alcohol, dilute acid and lye.
Application
1. For the manufacture of opaque glass, porcelain uranium and glass polishes;
2. It is used to make tin salt, catalyst and mordant, to prepare paint, and to be used as polishing agent in glass and enamel industry.
3. Used as enamel pigment, tin salt manufacturing, polishing agent for marble and glass;
4. Manufacture of opaque glass, antifreeze glass and high-strength glass, etc.
5. The raw material of the new environmentally friendly silver tin oxide electrical contact material. (replaces toxic silver cadmium oxide material)
6. Preparation of tin dioxide electrodes for melting glass.
7. Brake pads
8. Advanced surface active materials for catalysis and gas detection
