Zirconium element symbol Zr, density 6.49g/cm³, melting point 1852°C, boiling point 4377°C. Zirconium easily forms an oxide film on its surface in the air, which is shiny and similar in appearance to steel. Zirconium has corrosion resistance, but is soluble in hydrofluoric acid and aqua regia; at high temperatures, it can react with many elements to form solid solution compounds. The corrosion resistance of zirconium is better than that of titanium, and is close to tantalum and niobium. In view of the good plasticity of zirconium, it is often processed into plates, wires, etc.
