Selenium is a non-metallic element with chemical symbol Se and melting point: 217°C. Boiling point: 684.9℃. Selenium element is a red or gray powder, a metalloid with gray metallic luster. Of the six known solid allotropes, three crystals (alpha monoclinic, beta monoclinic, and gray triangular crystals) are the most important. Selenium can be used as a photosensitive material, a catalyst in the electrolytic manganese industry, an essential nutrient for animals and a beneficial nutrient for plants.
