Overview
Physical and chemical properties
Yttrium, the chemical symbol is Y and atomic number 39. which is the first rare earth metallic element to be discovered, it is a gray black metal with malleability. Reaction with hot water, soluble in dilute acid. Can make special glass and alloys.

Application:
Metal yttrium mainly uses special steel and non-ferrous metal additives to make superconductors and superalloys.
Functional materials in the electronics and atomic energy industries (used as yttrium phosphor to produce red color on TV screens, and also used in X-ray filters).
Yttrium and a variety of ammonia carboxylic complexes can form a stable chelate, Neodymium - containing yttrium aluminum garnet is an excellent laser material, Yttrium iron garnet is an excellent laser material, Yttrium iron garnet and yttrium aluminum garnet are new magnetic materials.
